Dhaka filmfest to screen Kiarostami films

The 15th edition of Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh is set to screen five movies by late Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami.

Abbas Kiarostami’s five movies will be displayed together with works by Charlie Chaplin.

Kiarostami is a multitalented artist and an exceptional man who joyfully embraced life. He was winner of the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’.

Several prestigious festivals and film events have already honored the noted Iranian director as well as paid homage to Kiarostami by presenting retrospectives of his works.

Iran’s iconic director, Kiarostami, died in July 2016 at the age of 76.

The festival was launched in the presence of Iran and Bangladesh officials.

Some 188 films from 67 countries including Iran will vie at the 2017 edition of the event.

Iran has a big share in the festival and many Iranian films are to go on the silver screen during this cinematic event.

The Dhaka International Film Festival is a biennial event held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

DIFF is one of the most prestigious film events in the country, dedicated to introducing mainstream global cinema to local filmmakers as well as to promote a healthy cine culture within Bangladesh.
